Recipe: Collagen Yoghurt Bites

Updated: Oct 3, 2022

These are a perfect snack for any age and a great way to get in your daily dose of Collagen.

Peri-menopause

During peri-menopause our hormones are fluctuating wildly. "Estrogen deficiency following menopause results in atrophic skin changes and acceleration of skin aging. skin becomes thinner with less collagen, decreased elasticity, increased wrinkling, increased dryness and reduced vascularity. Its protective function becomes compromised and aging is associated with impaired wound healing, hair loss, pigmentary changes and skin cancer." These bites are a great way to ensure you are getting a good dose of collagen every day to help prevent these issues.

Pregnancy

These are a great way to relieve any morning nausea. They are kept in the freezer so the cold may help soothe your stomach. They contain a balanced ration of fat, fibre and protein to help stabilise blood sugar.

These are a perfect snack to have in bed, before you get up in the morning.

Collagen Yoghurt Bites

To Make: 5 minutes - 2 hours Freezer Time - Makes 12

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup yoghurt (any type)

  • 12 scoops of Collagen Powder (this works out to be half your daily dose)

  • 1 TBSP coconut oil or Ghee

  • 1/4 cup of Mixed Berry Chia Jam

  • 1/4 cup of Muesli or Granola

Method

  1. Mix yoghurt, collagen powder and coconut oil/ghee together.

  2. Using a mini muffin tray spoon 2 heaped tsp of yoghurt into each space. Top with 1 tsp of Chia jam, and 1 tsp of muesli or granola.

  3. Freeze for 2 hours.

Adding coconut oil or ghee to non dairy yoghurt will ensure the bites remain creamy rather than icey.

Silicon Tray make it easier to pop the bites out but I used a metal tray with no issues. Once they are solid, transfer to a freezer bag or container so you can grab one anytime you need a wee bit of energy.
